father with child

The Fathers Program is designed to help men strengthen their role as parents. In collaboration with Child Support Services and Family Court, the program reaches out to low-income, custodial, and non-custodial fathers, helping them appreciate and embrace the vital roles they play in the emotional and financial lives of their children. FCS-WYCDC provides counseling, parenting skills, and other services to help them become positive role models for their children. Treatment is “trauma informed,” designed to lessen the impact of chronic stress on men. The program includes Individual and Group Therapy as well as a Father-Child Bonding Group. Individual Therapy and Group Therapy (Men’s Circle): Individual therapy allows men to interact in one-on-one settings with a counselor or therapist while working toward identifying and changing unhealthy behaviors, enhancing coping mechanisms, and strengthening critical thinking skills. Group therapy provides an opportunity for men to work collectively on the skills listed above.
