A Happy Holiday for FCS Children & Families

During the past four weeks, generous volunteers and local business groups helped brighten the holidays for FCS children and families. Gift-wrapping parties gave volunteers a chance to play Santa and his Elves. The volunteers’ enthusiasm was infectious as they measured, cut, folded, taped and bundled. As a result of their efforts, Nearly 130 children and their siblings received much-appreciated clothing and toys.

Hundreds of gifts were donated by The Family Giving Tree, Bank of America, Levi Strauss & Co., Variety Children’s Charity, Method Home, the National Council of Negro Women, and the Bay Area Woodworkers Association.

FCS would like to thank all of the volunteers and organizations who gave their time and resources to this year’s holiday gift drive.

One Stop Job Center

FCS is excited to announce it has been awarded a city contract to administer a new job training program in Visitacion Valley. The Neighborhood Satellite One Stop Career Link represents a significant milestone in our commitment to empowering low-income families to become self-sufficient.

The One-Stop will provide a range of employment and job training resources. These will include a staffed career resource center, customized job readiness services, access to education and vocational training, support services, job matching and placement services, and business service components linking job seekers to targeted industries and employers.

Joining six One Stop job centers scattered throughout San Francisco, the new Visitacion Valley Neighborhood Satellite One Stop Career Link will be located at 73 Leland Avenue and is scheduled to open in early-Spring 2010.
